Amica Car Insurance Review

Amica is the oldest car insurer in the United States. Starting in 1907, they are known for being financially stable and prioritizing customer satisfaction. The insurance company prides itself on having some of the lowest rates in the industry. Competitors keep up by offering very high discounts, and Amica still proudly beats them.

Amica does not utilize local agents. This allows them to offer competitive policies. Customers must call Amica directly or visit an office near them. Their mobile app allows customers to file a claim and process payments.

Different Types of Coverage at Amica

Amica’s premiums easily beat most other insurance companies. They offer unique services on a per-claim basis. This includes free lock replacement, free glass repairs, free airbag replacement, and zero depreciation on a new vehicle.

Lack of depreciation on a new vehicle already saves a monumental amount of money. Vehicles depreciate as soon as they leave the lot. Totaling a brand new vehicle means that the driver is out of a lot of money. Amica soothes these worries by eliminating depreciation altogether.

Amica also covers bail bonds. A driver’s accident may result in some jail time. Amica covers their customer’s bail bonds by up to $1,000. On top of that, Premium Choice Auto Package holders qualify for accident forgiveness.

Liability Coverage

Amica keeps their liability coverage basic. They offer bodily injury and property damage coverage. To save their customers money, they offer umbrella coverage. Umbrella coverage extends the limits of liability coverage by up to $1 million.

Long-term customers receive a discount. This further solidifies a good customer relationship and an excellent premium. Amica encourages customers to purchase umbrella coverage “for a dollar a day”. A previous year’s $1 million adds into the next year as well. Staying with Amica for 4 years insures $4 million in umbrella coverage, and it caps at five years.

Amica also offers dividends to make up for high premiums. Dividends eliminate a high-cost policy and return cash straight to your pocket. The insurance company works with their customers to discuss the best payment option. A dividend policy requires customers to front more cash upfront, but it saves money in the long-term.

J.D. Power Review

Amica received the Auto Claims Satisfaction Reward from J.D. Power. Customers are very satisfied with Amica’s claims process. Their estimates, claims services, and settlements are a five-star experience by customers. Customer rental experience and repair processes are average.

Amica’s ratings for insurance shopping is similarly high. There is no rating for their local agents or websites, but the rest of their ratings reach above average. Their call center has a perfect score, reinforcing their customer service claims. Amica also seems to offer the best prices and policy offerings as opposed to competitors.

A.M. Best Review

On top of their incredibly low rates, Amica is financially stable. This is a tough balance to achieve. The insurance company received an A+ from A.M. Best, making them superior in financial stability.

The company used to be A++ but recently downgraded. Decreasing financial stability is a result of large disasters. Amica hopes to repair its financial stability to a perfect rating, so they increased their rates.

Amica is considered “one of America’s Best Midsize Employers”. This makes them satisfactory across the board. Employees and customers are happy with their experience with Amica.

Clearsurance Customer Reviews

Overall Clearsurance customer reviews for Amica are above average. Customers enjoy the two-year loyalty discount and claims-free discount. They also offer a paper-free discount for online claim filings.

Average to below average ratings only make up 5% of customer complaints.  Rental reimbursement helps a lot of customers. While their car stays in the repair shop, Amica reimburses $20 a day for a total of $600 for a rental.

Customers seem dissatisfied by their lack of loyal customer program. Amica is also known to boost premiums with new drivers. A customer used to low premiums may not be happy with those types of changes.
